Prices, money and useful tips
Seville is more affordable than Madrid or Barcelona, and many of its best spots cost nothing.
🆓 The best things are free
- Plaza de España and María Luisa Park.
- Strolling through Santa Cruz, Triana, the Alameda and along the Guadalquivir.
- The Cathedral, free on Sundays: pick up tickets at the Puerta del Príncipe ticket office from 17:00, while they last and subject to the service schedule.
- The Museum of Fine Arts and the Roman ruins of Itálica, free for EU citizens.
- Free walking tours: you only pay the tip you choose.
🍽️ Eating well for less
- Eat tapas: they cost approx. €2.50–4 each, and three or four make a meal.
- Look for the menú del día at lunchtime on weekdays: approx. €12–16 for a starter, main, drink and dessert.
- Steer clear of Avenida de la Constitución and the streets by the Cathedral: ten minutes away, in the Alfalfa, Triana or Macarena, you'll eat better for less.
- Unlike in Granada, tapas aren't free with your drink in Seville: you order and pay for them separately.
🧾 Other tricks
- Transport: walk as much as you can. If you take the bus, single tickets or the Multiviaje card work out cheaper than the tourist card.
- Reduced tickets: the Alcázar costs €8 for students aged 14–30 and over-65s, and the Cathedral €7 online. Bring ID.
- Views: if it's just the panorama you're after, the Giralda is included in the Cathedral ticket.
- Water: tap water is safe. In summer, refill your bottle at any bar.
💡 GuideMapp tip: eat the Sevillian way, standing at the bar and ordering a mix of tapas rather than big plates at a table. You'll try more, spend less, and it's how the city actually eats.
