What to do

Must-do activities

Seville combines Mudéjar palaces, the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and neighbourhoods best enjoyed slowly, one tapa at a time.

⭐ Must-sees

Royal Alcázar

€15.50 · 2–3 h · Book online

A royal palace in use for centuries and a UNESCO World Heritage Site: the Courtyard of the Maidens, Mudéjar halls, the Baths of María de Padilla and vast gardens. It opens at 9:30 and tickets sell out, especially in spring.

Cathedral and Giralda

€13 online · €14 at the door · 1 h 15 min

The largest Gothic cathedral in the world, home to Columbus's tomb. You climb the Giralda up ramps rather than stairs, and the ticket also covers the Church of El Salvador.

Plaza de España and María Luisa Park

Free · 1–2 h

The semicircular square built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition, with tiled benches for each Spanish province and rowing boats on the canal. Next door is the city's loveliest park.

Santa Cruz quarter

Free · 1 h

The old Jewish quarter: alleyways, courtyards and squares such as Plaza de Doña Elvira and Plaza de Santa Cruz. Go early or at dusk to see it without tour groups.

Triana

Free · 2 h

Cross the Isabel II Bridge to Triana Market, built over the old castle of the Inquisition, the ceramics shops on Calle Alfarería and Calle Betis along the river.

Setas de Sevilla (Metropol Parasol)

From €16 · Open until 1:00

The huge wooden structure on Plaza de la Encarnación, with a rooftop walkway over the city. It looks its best at sunset and after dark. Underneath are Roman remains and a market.

Flamenco

1-hour show, from about €25

Choose a small, intimate venue over a large dinner show: you'll be close to the performers and it tends to feel more genuine. Triana and Santa Cruz have good options.

💎 If you have more time

  • Palacio de las Dueñas: the Alba family's palace, with courtyards and gardens, quieter than the Alcázar.
  • Casa de Pilatos: a 16th-century palace with some of the finest tilework in the city.
  • Museum of Fine Arts: Murillo, Zurbarán and Valdés Leal in a former convent. Free for EU citizens.
  • Torre del Oro and the riverside: the Almohad tower by the Guadalquivir, perfect at sunset.
  • Real Maestranza bullring: guided tour of the ring and its museum.

🍽️ Flavours not to miss

  • Salmorejo and espinacas con garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas): the classics on every bar menu.
  • Pescaíto frito (fried fish), a montadito de pringá (slow-cooked meat in a small roll) and carrillada (braised pork cheek).
  • A caña of Cruzcampo, a glass of fino or a rebujito (sherry with lemonade): what the city drinks, at the fair and beyond.

Lunch is from 14:00 to 16:00 and dinner from 21:00 to 23:30.

💡 GuideMapp tip: buy Alcázar and Cathedral tickets on their official websites a few days ahead and pick the first slot of the morning: it's the least crowded time and, in summer, the only cool one.
